Figures

My figures come from a number of manufacturers.

Peter Pig make up the bulk of my American and Austrialian troops, with a little levening of Command Decision gunners and Special Forces.

Free World Forces

My aim approach has been coloured by a comment in the original Ulster Imports copy of Charlie Company about fielding a full company in 1:1 scale.  So far I have painted and based two full platoons of US troops along with a platoon of ARVN.

For colour and potential scenario objectives I have news teams in both army and civilian garb, some special forces, tunnel rats and some downed helicopter crew.

Waiting for final basing and designation marking are another infantry paltoon, a weapons platoon in both weapons and Infantry organisation, and Austrailian platoon and a US Blue Team air mobile platoon.

I use a simple colour/number system on each of the bases to identify troops with their respective units. In a 10 man squad, seven figures will have a coloured “1” in a white square on the rear right hand side base designating first squad of the colour platoon. Two figures will be marked “1G” to denote the M79 gunners and one “1N” for the NCO.

These are my exisiting figures, black primer, green drybrush and flesh, weapons and some detailing painted in.  Based on mounting card covered in fine sand and foam flock.  The bases then get a piece of magnetic paper attached for storage.  Quick to paint, fast to base and look fine from wargamers altitude on the table. This is the latest batch.  Painting is still the same but I’m mounting on penny bases (aprox 20mm across) and blending the figures bases in with brown tile grout.  I’ll give them a coat of brown to tie everything in and a splash of flock. The reasoning behind this is primarily the weigh of the penny and the fact that they will stick to magnetic tape for storage. Click on the picture for a closer look.
